Context

Plastic has improved the convenience of modern living. It is omnipresent in our lives today. However, plastic waste is rising drastically every day. It takes a while for it to break down into the soil when we discard it as waste. This component is essentially non-biodegradable. However, when it finally degrades, a variety of toxic chemicals are released, poisoning the water and soil ecosystems. Furthermore, burning it releases a variety of harmful gases that greatly worsen air pollution. In addition to these problems, plastic garbage clogs drainage systems and prevents water from penetrating the ground.

Following careful consideration of the chemical risks associated with the careless use of plastic, our college has chosen to eliminate plastic from the campus as per the decision made in the Teachers' Council Meeting in 2019.

A. We shall make our college campus plastic free.

B. Below 20-micron non-recyclable plastic, Polly bags are to be banned at the college campus.

C. Use of special wastage pot for non-biodegradable waste throughout the campus will be given more priority.

D. Sensitization seminar and awareness camping has to be organized in the college and in locality to increase awareness.

E. A fine of rupees 10/- and rupees 50/- for others stakeholders to be charged, if anybody is found to throw plastic anywhere at college campus and try to break the green policy of the college.

F. Plastic picking and campus cleaning fieldworks will be done by the unit volunteers of NSS in regular interval.

G. The newly constituted "Nature Club" of the college, will oversee all the working towards fruitfulness of the above-mentioned policies.
